Dear Friends,
We would like to invite you to our Czech Film Screening organised by the Czech Language Club and Velehrad. We will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. We have chosen a Czech film set in the first half of the 20th century to commemorate the First Republic which was declared on 28th October 1918.
The screening is on Saturday 27th October at 5.30pm at Velehrad, Barnes. We will be screening a Czech film POSTŘIŽINY (in English known as Cutting it Short) with English subtitles. Postřižiny is a 1980 Czechoslovak comedy directed by Jiří Menzel. It is based on the novel Postřižiny by Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal. The story is set in a brewery in a small Czech town. You can watch a trailer here.
There will be some refreshments after the screening. The film is set in a brewery therefore we will be serving beer. We hope that this event will bring together people who love Czech culture.
Please RSVP by the 20th October at info@czechlanguageclub.co.uk.
You can pay at the door or make a payment via PayPal through this link.
