The Embassy of the Czech Republic in London will host a number of events on the occasion of awarding Czech artist, Pavel Brázda, the Artis Bohemiae Amicis Prize on the 1st of June 2017 in Birmingham. The main event of “The Day of Czech Culture” will be the reception and official opening of Brázda’s exhibition, to which we extend our invitation. The event will take place at 4pm at the Library of Birmingham.
‘’The Day of Czech Culture’’ will be opened by a press conference hosted by the Ikon Gallery, a renowned gallery of modern art, at 11am. The conference will be led by the curators of the exhibition – Johnathan Watkins, director of the gallery and Miroslav Ambroz, the art historian. After the conference Pavel Brázda´s spouse, Mrs. Věra Nováková, will take over from the Czech vice-minister of Culture the Artis Bohemiae Amicis medal granted to Pavel Brázda for his lifelong contribution to the promotion of Czech culture. A reception at the Library of Birmingham will take place at 4pm, with a performance by the Belfiato Quintet, followed by the official opening of the exhibition named “Pavel Brázda is here”.
